UC Davis has been to the women's DI national championship a few times, and this year they'll head to Bowling Green, Ohio, to face the Mid-Atlantic's #2 team, Virginia. UCD secured its return to the national tournament with a narrow 22-20 win over Chico State in the Pacific Coast Championship's third place match. "Chico gave us absolutely all we could handle," UC Davis coach Kai Neevel, "but we ended up on top and are extremely happy to be heading to the national tournament." The teams split the halves, with Davis owing the first 40 minutes and Chico taking the second half. Davis captains Liz White at prop and Ahija Moore at fullback stood out on the day. They led by example and imposed their will to win. Scrumhalf Delaney Chapman had two great games this weekend and made a huge difference for the team. Davis had issues with Chico State's flyhalf, whom Neevel described as "nearly unstoppable," and strongside flanker, who covered the field with ease. The game came down to the final play of the game, when Chico scored at fulltime to pull with two points of the tie. Unfortunately for CSU, the conversion didn't split the posts, and the rest is history. The last time to the two teams met was in their first league game this season, a game that ended in a tie. "This was a great team win for us, a great game," Neevel said. "Chico should fee very good about their performance and really deserves to be moving forward as well. Our hat is off to them for a great match." With the win, the women's DI college brackets have been solidified: Women DI College Championship April 29-May 1 Pool A - Buffalo, NY #1 (MARFU 1) Penn State v #16 (Midwest 2) Northern Iowa #8 (Pacific Coast 2) Stanford v #9 (Northeast 3) Dartmouth
