Seven teams in DI and eight teams in DII of the Mid-Atlantic women's college leagues are down to four each as the MARFU quarterfinals wrapped up Saturday.
In DI, Penn State has a bye and played anyway, edging Norwich 35-30 in a friendly.
In west conditions around the greater DC area, teams struggled to get scoring going. Virginia shut out West Chester 10-0, and Maryland defeated James Madison 12-5.
In the only big-scoring QF of the day, Navy easily handled Virginia Tech 41-0.
In the DII playoffs, Mary Washington beat St. Mary's 29-5, Temple handled William & Mary 42-5, and Shippensburg shut out Catholic University 45-0. George Washington had a tougher time of it, but beat Delaware 34-17.
So that leaves the following semifinal matchups for next week:
Penn State v. Navy
Virginia v. Maryland
Shippensburg v. Mary Washington
Temple v. George Washington
