Wednesday was a day off for the USA 7s team as they look ahead to the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

“Everyone takes a day off this week, which is a long week as we come from a Friday-Saturday tournament in Dubai to a Saturday-Sunday tournament here,” said USA Head Coach Alex Magleby. “Some teams take Monday or Tuesday, some do Thursday. Everyone has their own reasons for what day they pick. For us Wednesday was good, and the guys had fun and got away from it for a day, and now we can come back and refocus.”

Some of the players went diving in a protective cage to view sharks. Others went to a park where injured lions are rehabbed, and still opthers went sightseeing.

“It was pretty cool,” added Hawley. “It was a nice day off, but Thursday is really our last grind day and we’re ready get into that and get ready.”
