US 7s Team in Camp
Sevens - USA Sevens Men

The USA men’s 7s team is in camp with a few changes, as Luke Hume and Peter Dahl are with the USA 15s team, and Mike Palefau is getting settled in a new job.

Head Coach Alex Magleby said the team is working hard and making steps toward improvements.

Left to right: Brett Thompson, Folau Niua, Danny Howard, Mike Teo, Shalom Suniula, Preston Bryant, Jack Halalilo, Taylor Mokate, Rocco Mauer. “We know it’s a process to improve play and change the culture,” Magleby told RUGBYMag.com. “But we also know we’re in this to win.”

Back in camp is Colin Hawley after he attended to some personal commitments.
He joins captain Shalom Suniula and veterans Zack Test and Matt Hawkins.

Also in camp are Brett Thompson, Maka Unufe, Carlin Isles, Mike Te’o, Tai Enosa, and Rocco Mauer, who all played in the Gold Cast 7s last month.

Rugby league player Dannny Howard, and former Zimbabwe and South Africa prospect Preston Bryant are in camp – Bryant still coming back from injury.

Jack Halalio and Nate Ausgpurger, who played for the USA Falcons at the Serevi 7s, are back in camp, as is Folau Niua, back, finally, from injury.

Also in camp is Nick Edwards, who is a proud owner of a US passport, which makes him eligible not only for the IRB World Series (for which he was eligible anyway), but the Olympics.

Andrew Durutalo, Blaine Scully, and Taylor Mokate are in camp but on limited activity as they come back from injury.

Saturday the team attended a fundraiser and barbecue for Ronan Nelson, a young player from Southern California who broke his neck playing rugby this past spring.

The event was to raise money for treatment costs not covered by insurance. To donate, see this link.
