Canada v USA in Bowl Semis
Sevens - USA Sevens Men

The USA will face Canada in the Bowl semifinals of the Nelson Mandela Bay 7s, as their North American foes defeated Morocco 21-0 earlier today.

Canada didn't look quite as sharp as the Eagles in their quarterfinal win, as first-half infractions at the breakdown and a couple of failed finishing passes limited the team's halftime score to 14-0.

Canada was feisty in the breakdown and did well to convert Morocco's many handling errors into quick attacking phases. And in traffic, Canada showed some nice change of direction that kept its opponents continually reshuffling on defense.

Sean Duke got the scoring going a couple of minutes in, when a ball out wide allowed the speedster to step around three defenders for the centered try. Harry Jones followed three minutes later for the final score of the half.

The second half was got scrappier as a yellow card apiece was awarded to each team. Morocco was the first to go a man down, and it occurred inside their 22 meter. From the tap, the ball worked wide and Nanyak Dayak took advantage of the man-advantage perfectly, grubbering through the defense for Conor McCann to scoop up a meter from the tryline to score. Jones went three for three on conversions with a tricky sideline kick, 21-0.

The game ended with Morocco attacking in Canada's end, but they were their own worst enemies, killing opportunities with multiple knock-ons when at full pace and handing over possession for not releasing in the tackle.

The USA defeated Canada 33-17 in last week's Dubai 7s Bowl semifinal and are favored in this matchup. The game kicks off in three hours time.
