Another Big Loss for USA 7s Men |
Sevens -
USA Sevens Men

The USA didn't factor much into South Africa's 36-7 win during the second round of the Dubai 7s. The Springboks converted nearly every possession into points, and the Eagles barely had their hands on the ball long enough to even think of a comeback.
The only USA points came midway through the second half, after South Africa had already built a 29-0 lead. The Eagles looked good, unintimidated and hitting the pass at pace. A high-tackle advantage allowed Colin Hawley to quick tap through the mark and catch the Springbok defense being lazy. Just before the tackle, he hit Peter Tiberio running in support for the uncontested try.
Otherwise, it was all South Africa. The Springboks attacked with too much pace and ballcarriers were too wily to be contained by the first-up tackler. RSA moved the ball quickly away from the contact area when they were dragged down, and saw Kyle Brown, Branco Du Preez, Renfred Dazel, Bernado Botha, Johannes Prinsloo and Mark Richards score tries.
Now 0-2, the USA will look to rebound against Portugal during their third and final match today. Portugal played more respectably than the USA did in its two losses, falling 17-5 to South Africa and 31-7 to New Zealand.
