Venues, Dates Named for 2 Eagle Tests
National Teams - USA Men

Early speculation and reports had the Eagles' Pacific Nation Cup match against Tonga being played at Rio Tinto Stadium in suburban Salt Lake City, Utah and the home World Cup Qualifier against Canada being played in July in suburban Atlanta. According to USA Rugby's website, things have changed.

USA is now slated to play Tonga June 14 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. and Canada Aug. 17 at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC, where the Eagles beat Canada in 2009.

Canada was expected to host its home World Cup Qualifier against USA at BMO Field in Toronto, but there are apparently scheduling conflicts with the venue, and that game could wind up elsewhere. The date is still unknown.

The movement of the World Cup Qualifiers between Canada and the USA would make sense, given the 7s World Cup is being played the last weekend of July, and it would have been a stretch for players to compete in both the 7s World Cup and the 15s World Cup Qualifiers.

The Eagles have a few players who both 15s coach Mike Tolkin and 7s coach Alex Magleby would likely want on their respective rosters in that time period, and Canada has even a few more who play both 15s and 7s regularly.

Given that Canada and the USA are in the same pool in the 7s World Cup and meeting in a Pacific Nations Cup match in May, there will be plenty of opportunity for the North American rivalry to bubble in the coming months.
