Cal Finishes Third in CRC
Tournaments - USA 7s CRC

Cal looked like it actually wanted to win the consolation game, which it did 26-7, whereas Life’s effort was questionable.

The Bears smothered the Running Eagles with stifling defense the entire game, but especially in the first half. Cal’s pressure forced Life into a turnover deep in their own end, resulting directly in a try for Seamus Kelly.

Life put the ball back in Cal’s hands when they shifted it to the wing and Tyler Salamon ran out of bounds. Cal took advantage of the error, as Connor Ring sliced toward the middle of the field and through Life’s defense for the try.

Cal got another break when Life was pinged for hands-in inside their own 22. Cal toed through quickly and got it wide to Paul Bosco for the third try. Paul Bosco converted all three tries for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Life continued to struggle to get on into the attacking end of the field in the second half, as Cal kept up the physicality. Ahmed Chedade extended the lead to 26-0 in the ninth minute.

Life’s sole sign life came from Cornelius Dirksen, who danced through and outraced the Bears’ defense for the Running Eagles’ only score of the game.
