NYAC fullback Chris Chapman led all scorers with two tries. NYAC opened the scoring in the first minute of play with a penalty goal by center Alan Leon MacGinty, 3-0. After missing an earlier attempt, Old Blue flyhalf Ashley Moeke leveled the score with a penalty goal in the 17th minute, 3-3. Old Blue had an opportunity to take the lead three minutes later, but Moeke’s third penalty attempt bounced off a goal post. The NYAC was subsequently yellow-carded for an infraction but no harm resulted. The hosts took the lead in the 28th minute when NYAC fullback Chris Chapman touched down his first try at the end of a movement that started at mid-field. MacGinty’s conversion provided the AC with a 10-3 lead. Old Blue responded in the 32nd minute with a corner try by fullback Steve Strydom. Ashley Moeke’s spectacular touchline conversion leveled the score, 10-10. Unfortunately for Old Blue, it would be their final points of the day. Following a penalty against Old Blue 20 meters from its own line in the 36th minute, NYAC’s attack resulted in fullback Chris Chapman’s second try. The AC’s conversion failed and the teams went into the break shortly thereafter with the score, NYAC 15, Old Blue 10. Twenty-eight minutes of the second half passed with neither team able to score. The only noteworthy activities were two missed NYAC penalty goal attempts (18th and 21st minutes), and an Old Blue yellow card in the 26th. The NYAC finally broke the second half scoring ice in the 28th minute when flanker Neil McMillian touched down a push-over try, 20-10. Three minutes later, Eagle scrumhalf Mike Petri scored at the end of a 30-meter NYAC movement and wing Rob Johnson converted, 27-10. Flanker Lou Stanfill scored the NYAC’s final points in the 40th minute when he touched down a push-over try and Rob Johnson converted, 34-10.
