Old Blue Expands Coaching Staff
Clubs - Elite Cup / RSL

Old Blue RFC has announced its expanded coaching staff, which is busy preparing for the upcoming 2012 RSL season.

Current Head Coach Steve Lewis moves over to Director of Rugby, where he will provide oversight and long-range planning more compatible with his increased international telecommunications travel commitments.  Prior to coming to Old Blue in fall 2010, the 47-year-old native of Scotland coached Denver Highlanders and Vail and worked with the West All-Star Men’s, Collegiate and Sevens squads and the Eastern Rockies U-19 squad. He played senior and representative rugby in both Scotland (West of Scotland and Glasgow) and the USA (West RFU and Eastern Rockies RFU).

Marty Veale returns to Old Blue as Head Coach after outstanding player-coach stints for the club in 2005 and 2008. The 34-year-old New Zealander played professionally at lock for London Wasps (2008-2011), where he was coached by Wales defense coach Shaun Edwards, Kubota Spears in Japan (2006-2008), and North Harbour (2003-2005), Northland (2008, 2011) and Canterbury (2000) in New Zealand.

Current Assistant Coach Chris Venn moves over to Assistant Head Coach.  Before coming to Old Blue in fall 2010, the 39-year-old native of Midlands, England played in the back row for Bedford, Leicester and Sale (UK) in the 1990s and then spent the following ten years as a player-coach with Old Reigatians and Dorking (UK).  He played representative rugby for Midlands and England Universities.

Brendon Daniel joins Old Blue as Backs Coach.  Previously, the 34-year-old New Zealand native coached New York Women and Vail, represented New Zealand in Sevens and played professionally at wing for nearly 10 years in the English Premiership, with 100 appearances for Bath (2003-2005), Bristol (2002-2003), Harlequins (1999-2001) and Saracens (1997-1999).  He was twice among the top five try-scorers in the Premiership.
