Longtime rugby 7s invitational team Atlantis Rugby is hosting its first sevens camp at Alapocas Run State Park, Wilmington, Del. on Sunday, Oct 6 from 9am to 5pm (GPS Address: 1914 W Park Dr, Wilmington, DE). The camp will be valuable for novice and experienced player alike and is open to any player, male or female, registered with USA Rugby.
Featured coaches will be national coaches Julie McCoy and Salty Thompson. Julie McCoy is currently the USA Olympic Development Coach and Recruiter, a former USA Women’s Sevens Head Coach, and the former South Men’s 7s All-Star Head Coach. As a player she represented the USA in 7s and has played for, and coached, Atlantis on several occasions. Salty Thompson has coached several age-grade national teams, and is currently the USA Rugby High School All-American Head Coach. He has represented Atlantis as a player and has coached Atlantis on several occasions.
Working with these two will be several members of the Atlantis coaching staff, including but not limited to Emil Signes (Atlantis Head Coach and former USA 7s team Coach for both men and women), Chris Ryan (former USA Women's 7s Assistant Coach, Jack Foley (Head Coach of Pennsylvania High School Boys All-Star 7s), Dana Creager (East Coast Regional Olympic Development Program Coach and Recruiter, Head Coach of the MARFU Women’s 7s, and former USA national team player).
Atlantis will pick at least one male and one female player from the camp over the age of 18 to participate in the Atlantis Men's and Women's teams at the Las Vegas Invitational in January 2014. In addition to the men and women's teams, the Atlantis boys will enter a team in the High School bracket at the LVI; an Atlantis girls' high school team is tentative at this point.

Atlantis has been in existence since 1986. In that time, more than 900 players, including nearly 200 US national team players, have represented Atlantis. More than 100 of them represented Atlantis prior to being selected to the USA teams. Atlantis has participated in 140 tournaments in more than 30 nations around the world.
