RUGBYMag releases the latest collegiate 7s rankings.
 Now we’re hitting the
meat of the college 7s season. With tournaments in the South, Atlantic Coast,
Texas, Utah, Oregon, and California, this past weekend gave us plenty of data.
In addition, we got to see some ranked teams against other ranked teams. Those
matchups, as much as anything else, drove our rankings. Life University (#3)
beat #6 Arkansas State, and that performance, added to a convincing win over
#14 UCF vaults Life over idle Kutztown and Cal to #1.
BYU was superb again, and this time they beat Utah, and you know we rate Utah.
So the Cougars move up, too. Arkansas State played Life closer than Utah did
BYU, so ASU move up a spot.
In other tournaments, Navy won all their matches in the first day of the ACRL
tournament (Day Two was called off due to rain); they move up a little. Central
Washington and St. Mary’s dominated tournaments that weren’t especially
challenging. They move up one spot, but that’s it until they face tougher
competition.
We have trimmed the rankings back to 25, with a “team’s we’re tracking” list.
