If you are planning on attending the USA vs New Zealand Maori All Blacks match or will be in the Philadelphia area on Friday, November 8, register now for the Lost Afternoon Luncheon, which will take place at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Lost Afternoon Luncheon promises to be an afternoon full of rugby stories, networking opportunities, and the chance to rekindle old friendships and make new ones. Typically, the 90-minute event turns into a full day of rugby fun so plan accordingly. We don't call it a lost afternoon for nothing!
Past New Zealand All Blacks, Maori and rugby sevens legend Eric Rush will be the keynote speaker. Eric is regarded as one of the best after dinner speakers in the rugby world. His participation alone is worth the admission.
Past USA Eagle Brian Hightower will also be on hand to interview a player from both the U.S. and New Zealand Maori All Blacks as well as a coach or the manager from each side. Former Eagle captain and current USRFF Executive Director Brian Vizard will act as emcee.
Besides Hightower and Vizard, other past Eagles players in attendance will be Dan Lyle, Ed Burlingham, Butch Horwath, Tony Flay, Brad Andrews, Mike Purcell and Jake Burkhardt. In addition, former Eagles coaches George Betzler and Ray Cornbill will be on hand. Cornbill will be joined by fellow U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame member Keith Seaber.
Also taking part in the festivities is former New Zealand Prime Minister and current New Zealand Ambassador to the United States, Rt. Hon Mike Moore, who will be in Philadelphia to cheer on the Maori All Blacks but also to support his Ambassadors XV against the U.S. Combined Services team in the early match at PPL Park. This match is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 pm and the proceeds from the match benefit the Pride Rugby program at Perry Street Prep (formerly known as Hyde Public Charter School).
Once the program concludes, there’ll be a raffle which will include autographed sports memorabilia, including several rugby jerseys and some other items signed by some of Philadelphia’s sports personalities.
Any and all proceeds from the Lost Afternoon Luncheon will be directed towards youth rugby, with the majority of those proceeds staying local in support of Rugby PA.
Individuals or companies can sponsor a table for 10 for $1,000. They will be recognized as sponsors on the Lost Afternoon Luncheon website as well at the luncheon. Individual seats can also be purchased for $75. Tickets must be purchased by Monday, November 4, 2013.
The USRF would like to thank Huntsworth Health, Sly Fox Beer, Rodney Strong Vineyards, Fesnak and Associates, LLP, Fox Sports 1, Rugby PA, and USA Sevens for their support of the Lost Afternoon Luncheon.
There have been five previous Lost Afternoon Luncheons but this is the first one outside of Houston. Please help us make it the best one yet. Sign up now!
