The US Rugby Football Foundation is kicked off their annual campaign today.
USRFF Executive Director Brian Vizard told RUGBYMag.com that the Annual Campaign is a crucial time for his organization's work in supporting rugby in the United States.
“The Rugby Foundation will continue to do its part to provide as many kids as possible the opportunity to play the sport we all love. We rely a great deal on the support of the rugby community to do what we do so if you’d like to help us continue to grow the game and if you’re in a position to do so, please send in a contribution.”
Here's their appeal:
The dream of Olympic Rugby is upon us. These are exciting times for Rugby in America and for the United States Rugby Football Foundation (USRFF), the oldest national Rugby football organization in the country, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The demand for support of youth Rugby has exploded as youth Rugby programs have grown dramatically. Without your financial support we cannot keep up with this growing demand and will surely have to turn away many deserving young ruggers, just at the time when they most need our help.
It all starts with your support. If we can count on a contribution from you, it can help to make a real difference in youth Rugby and take it to a whole new level here in America.
This year the USRFF's "A Ball 4 All" program distributed over 4,000 balls to the youth of America and will be awarding 10 Kevin Higgins College Scholarships, bringing the total to 41 since the program was created in 2008. We have launched our virtual Rugby Hall of Fame and Museum to begin to honor the legends of our past and we will soon announce the 2012 HOF honorees.
The USRFF has made a real difference in the last 50 years. But we still have far to go, and with your tax deductible contribution we can finally see Rugby given the opportunity it deserves. This year, with the 2016 Olympic Games just around the corner, we need you more than ever!
Thank you for your support.
Yours in Rugby,
