“I think he has to be in the conversation for the national team,” said Chicago 7s Head Coach Jeremy Nash.
Certainly he’s been a big part of a Chicago team that won yet another tournament this past weekend, this time in Cleveland.
“When we started this summer It was weird because we had a new coach and a lot of young guys,” said Tiberio. “I wasn’t sure how we would be. But the guys have been playing great.”
Tiberio has changed his role on the team. He’s not just the fast guy scoring tries, he’s a playmaker, a decision-maker, a distributor.
“It’s a new role for me and I prefer it,” he said. “I’m able to work with the guys around me more.”
The USA team is not far from Tiberio’s mind, and while he has said that he wants to continue to pursue a career outside of rugby in addition to playing –full-time sports isn’t for him – he does still think he can contribute.
“I would like to be in the loop,” he told RUGBYMag.com. “I want to pursue a career – I have goals in that – and I still want to play rugby and hopefully for the Eagles. I would love to be able to do both.”
For now, he can be content with being our RUGBYMag.com/Rhino Rugby Player of the Week.
