All ten teams in the California Collegiate 7s still have a shot at the title as Day Two of competition gets started on Sunday.

The bottom four teams will play off to get to the quarterfinals to join the other six teams.

On Saturday, St. Mary’s and San Diego State were impressive in winning their three pool play games. Meanwhile, the big surprise result may well have been when Santa Barbara City College defeated hosts Cal Poly 17-12 on an intercept try with no time left.

“The boys did well to come back,” said Cal Poly Head Coach David Burnett, as his team beat Santa Clara and UCSB to finish 2-1.

The teams were all seeded after Saturday’s results, with St. Mary’s and San Diego State topping the list. Cal Poly ended up 3rd thanks to a superior points difference over Long Beach State and University of San Diego. UC Davis took the 6th seed.

Santa Clara, Santa Barbara City College, UCSB and the Mustangs (Cal Poly’s 2nd team) will play off on Sunday for the 7th and 8th seeds.
