After 14 match ups and 16 days of voting, the Collegiate 7’s Head 2 Head Championship final has been decided, with Texas facing Central Washington University in the deciding battle.

To earn the spot in the final opposite Texas, Central Washington saw off Collegiate Rugby Champions Dartmouth in the semifinal round of voting. The votes went back and forth, with the lead changing hands a couple of times. Central Washington was trailing Dartmouth with only a few hours left to vote, but the Wildcats came back and managed the upset in the end.

Texas and Central Washington both deserve to be in the final, as their paths to the last match have not been easy. Texas beat Boston College before pulling off two big upsets against Cal and Arizona. Central Washington got past Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Dartmouth.

The Longhorns and Wildcats did not face each other in the CRC in June, but Central Washington made it one step further than Texas by getting to the Cup semifinals. Texas lost to Army in the quarters.
