There are some very good leagues in DII - The Northern Lights, Potomac, New England, Rugby Northeast and WIIL, to name a few. And teams within those leagues are beating each other up. In the WIIL's North Division, UW-Stout knocked off UW-Milwaukee to move to 4-0 on the weekend. Former DI Stout is now on a war path to clash with the 2011 National Champion UW-Whitewater. In the Potomac, Georgetown continues to be better than anyone other than Towson and Salisbury. If the Hoyas were in some other DII conference, they might be favored to win the league and make a run at Nationals. Meanwhile, Towson and Salisbury remain among the best in the country. In New England, Norwich and Rhode Island are 3-1, but both are behind former National Champs Coast Guard. If USCG beats URI Saturday, then it'll be nearly free and clear for a league title. If not, the league will bottleneck much like the Northern Lights. In the Northern Lights, UM-Duluth, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa and Winona State are all 4-1 having lost to each other. Most recently, Duluth knocked off ND State, so they're the highest ranked Northern Lights team. Recently DI UNI rejoins the Top 25 this week after scoring a lopsided win over North Dakota. In Rugby Northeast, Providence and Holy Cross have separated with their undefeated records. So both move up. Bentley drops after a narrow loss to Holy Cross. If Bentley scores a win over Providence later this month, it's right back in the playoff hunt. |
