Lots of shakeup in DII since the preseason rankings, with a few upsets between ranked teams: SLU (ranked 24th last week) knocked off Central Missouri (ranked 9th). Coast Guard (16th) walloped Boston University (5th). And Providence (15th) beat Rhode Island (14th) 35-20. We have adjusted the rankings accordingly.
We still think Central Missouri is a really competitive team in a competitive league in the Gateway. Moving into the Top 25 is Southern Illinois, 2-0 in the Gateway. The Salukis were impressive in their 84-0 defeat of UMKC and they host Central Missouri Saturday in a big conference swing match.
We are also impressed by Coast Guard’s defeat of the Terriers. Coast Guard, 2006 National Champion, is no stranger to success and looks to be competitive again.
Utah Valley drops from the rankings after joining a newly-formed DI-AA conference with other teams from Utah, including BYU.
