In that time, several teams have had the chance to bolster their resumes. UNC Wilmington, Utah Valley, East Carolina, Sierra College and Santa Rosa JC keep winning, and all move up as dormant teams stand pat or drop. Northern California is one of the best areas for college rugby in the country, if not the best, and DII is no different. Cal Maritime, Sierra College and Santa Rosa JC are tough every year. The two latter schools are undefeated heading into a Saturday clash, and the Keelhaulers are 2-1 after falling to Sierra earlier this month. If SoCal league play ended today, there wouldn’t be a repeat champion, as first-year competitors Santa Barbara City College are atop the league table with a 2-0 record. SBCC, coached by the same staff as 2011 DI-AA runners up UCSB, appear to be serious contenders. ECU moves up after beating rival Appalachian State handily and tying NC State. The Pirate season will slow down prior to the South playoffs, while No. 8 UNC-Wilmington and the rest of the Southern Conference continue play. Near the top of the rankings, you’ll notice Utah Valley has leapfrogged Northern Colorado. UVU scored two extremely lopsided wins in Las Vegas, over Pacific, 95-0, and Southern Utah, 65-5. The Wolverines have announced themselves as serious title contenders.

It’s been three weeks since our last DII ranking, as Las Vegas threw a kink in the schedule. But we’re back on track now.
