Men's DI-AA College Top 25, March 6, 2012
Rankings - Men DI College

Men's DI-AA rankings hot off the presses

As suggested in last week’s Top 25, more parity has forced bunching of the Northern California teams, a drastically lopsided win over Idaho has pushed Oregon State up the rankings, and a big road win over Arkansas has seen Missouri join the rankings.

In NorCal, Santa Clara and Sacramento State are higher because they’re both 2-1 in league play. Santa Clara is one notch above Sacramento State because it has the head-to-head win. The same logic was used to slot Stanford over Chico.

The top 7 is unchanged, with Davenport and Dartmouth still not playing this spring and the rest all winning either big or over a quality opponent.

Florida’s defeat of Florida State could have implications on the three at-large bids to be handed out in April. Florida State is on pace to win the South Independent Rugby Conference’s South Division, and is the favorite to win the SIRC’s automatic bid to the Sweet 16, which would only boost Florida’s shot at an at-large bid, should the Gators not win the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference.

Oregon State looks like a real contender this year. Not only are the Beavers routinely pounding the American competition in the Northwest, they’ve beaten the Univ. of British Columbia and Simon Fraser, two usually competitive Canadian sides.

We do not include 40- or 60-minute matches in team’s records below, but St. Bonaventure is 4-0 the last two Saturdays in such matches. That counts for something.
