BGSU, UF still going strong despite both pictures players departing

There's very little movement in this week's Top 25, because there were little-to-no surprises across the country.

The one potential surprise was Kansas State only beating Truman State by two points on a missed Bulls conversion at the death. It was the first 15s game for the Wildcats this season, so better form is likely to follow, but Truman lost huge to Kansas, and Arkansas knocked off the Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan. Saturday, so the Razorbacks supplant K-State as No. 25.

Arkansas is entering DI on the heels of consecutive Heart of America (LAU) DII championships and coach Warren Fyfe has done an excellent job restocking the cupboard each season. An interesting addition this year is Tim Hanify, who started at fullback for the St. Louis Royals when they finished second in the country amongst DIII men's clubs two springs ago.

The other potential surprise was the score line in the Davenport/Miami match. The Panthers scored a 34-point win, setting up another colossal match this weekend against Bowling Green. Miami doesn't fall far, though. Neither does Indiana, who bounced back with a lopsided win over Purdue in its first game against someone other than a top-ten team in almost a month.

St. Bonaventure continues to beat the inferior teams in the Empire West, but they haven't ascended much in our rankings. That's because last year's winner of the New York State Conference, Buffalo, didn't do much to pump up the area's reputation. The Bonnies are going to have to prove they deserve higher billing by beating better teams. Same goes for Stony Brook, who are sitting atop the Empire East.
