Wisc. Rovers Lead MW DII Playoffs
Clubs - Men's DII Clubs

Eight teams are left in the Midwest DII club competition after this weekend’s playoffs.

The playoffs have a multi-step format that allows teams to play their way into a higher seed, but also gives teams credit for a good regular season.

The top two teams from the Midwest-East played off for the top seed from the East. Saturday the Wisconsin team came back from a 24-8 halftime deficit to win 25-24 over Bremer County.

In the West, in another tight game, the Cleveland Rovers held off Michiana 33-26.

That put the losing teams into Sunday’s games to play for either 2nd or 3rd.

Meanwhile, the other playoff teams also played Saturday. In the East, Pittsburgh beat Dayton 42-37. That gave Pittsburgh the opportunity to play for the #2 seed on Sunday. Dayton were relegated to fight for the 4th seed on Sunday.

Cleveland Eastern Suburbs beat Toledo convincingly 39-12 and that set up a clash with Dayton on Sunday.

Sunday’s games saw Michiana edge Pittsburgh 39-32 to earn the #2 seed. Pittsburgh takes #3.

Cleveland Eastern Suburbs slammed Dayton 46-8 to take the #4 seed. Dayton, which was the #2 team out of their conference, ended up losing twice and out of the money.

In the West, the South Side Irish beat Metropolis 2nds 27-22 to earn a shot at the #4 seed, and eliminating the Metropolis squad. In a reverse of the Minnesota-Chicago rivalry, the Eastside Banshees beat Lincoln Park 34-22 to set up a game with Bremer County for the #2 seed. Lincoln Park now faced Chicago rivals South Side Irish for #4.

On Sunday, Bremer County edged the Banshees to take the #2 seed, and Eastside took #3. Meanwhile, the Irish beat Lincoln Park 17-14 to win the #4 seed.
