The Midwest DII club playoff matchups are set after the regular season ended Saturday.
Dayton is the #1 seed from the Eastern Conference (not that there was any doubt), while Eastside secures top in Midwest-West Pool 1, and Wisconsin has the Pool 2 first place, a status they clinched some time ago. Wisconsin was perfect through the season, winning all eight league matches and earning a bonus point for four tries every time.
The big moves were actually in the lower seeds. Pittsburgh defeated Detroit 22-10 to secure 2nd in the Eastern, while Rochester’s 39-24 defeat of Cincinnati allowed the Aardvarks to leapfrog idle Michiana to take third.
All of this sets up the playoffs for this coming weekend.
At the Eastern Conference playoffs in Toledo, Ohio, Dayton plays Michiana and Pittsburgh takes on Rochester in the semis, with the final and 3rd/4th match scheduled for Sunday.
The Western Conference playoffs get underway in Cottage Grove, Wisc.
Wisconsin faces the Eastside Banshees in a one-off championship match between the two 1st-place teams.
The loser of that match will play the winner of South Side Irish and Bremer County for 2nd in the conference, with the loser being 3rd.
The loser of South Side Irish and Bremer County plays the winner of Des Moines v. Milwaukee for 4th.
Those four from each conference will play off for the Midwest championships next spring.
