Norfolk Shocks PAC

The Norfolk Blues pulled off something of an upset in Mid-Atlantic DI club action, defeating visiting PAC, the 2012-13 league winners, 29-21 Saturday.

The Blues are now 2-0, having won a crucial away game the week before.

"I think this was just our overall athleticism," said Norfolk Head Coach Chris Porter. "The guys get around the park really well and they're developing as players. If used to be when we gave up big breaks, the other team was going to score. Now we run those breaks down and defend."

Johnny Cameron had another good day running the offense from flyhalf, and flanker TJ Van Petten was torrid on defense and made a big play late in the game.

With Norfolk up just 24-21, Van Patten took off in support of a long break and capped it with a try to give the Blues a bonus point, and deny PAC a bonus point for a close loss.

Bryce Baxter, Cecil Garber and Nick Flynn also scored tries, and Cameron was 3-4 on conversions and added a penalty for the 29-21 scoreline.
