Treasure Island, San Francisco, Calif. - In the first DI league game for these two clubs since 2000, SFGG slammed Old Puget Sound Beach 35-7 Saturday.

The two teams were opening their league play, with OPSB playing a sort of hybrid season because they have no official league in which to play, and San Francisco Golden Gate starting their NorCal campaign.

Karl Thomson, standing in for SFGG Head Coach Grant Wells, who is away, said he was very pleased to see the Californians play to the pattern.

"[Scrumhalf] Mose Timoteo is a great leader and the guys just played to the pattern," said Thomson. "We got really good team play, and I was just happy with that. We shut them down on defense, adjusted well to the rain, and I think our fitness took over late."

SFGG were led by flyhalf Samisoni Pone, who ran the offense well, and the Okusi brothers, Tevita at center and Opeti at flanker. Tevita Koloamatangi was outstanding in his debut at No. 8, while Eagle hooker Chris Biller was also strong.

"Chris did really well and he's a great addition for us," said Thomson.
