Fall DI club leagues wrap up this weekend – if they can squeeze their games in and around the rains of former Hurricane Sandy.
Here’s a look at the matchups, and the key games that have playoff implications:
Midwest DI Metropolis at Chicago Griffins Chicago Blaze at Chicago Lions Cincinnati Wolfhounds at Detroit Tradesmen Columbus at Indianapolis Impalas Palmer at Milwaukee Barbarians The eight playoff teams are already decided, with the top six seeds already in place. The big question is, who will be 7th and who will be 8th? Currently Columbus and Milwaukee are tied on points. This weekend, Columbus plays Indianapolis, and are favored in that match. Meanwhile Milwaukee will have their hands full against Palmer. New England Boston at Boston Irish Wolfhounds New Haven at South Shore Anchors Hartford Wanderers at Mystic River Middlesex at Amoskeag The winner of the Boston v. Boston Irish Wolfhounds game will be 1st. If there’s a tie, Boston finishes 1st and BIW clinches 2nd. If Boston loses, they are second, but if the Wolfhounds lose, they could find themselves in third place and facing an away playoff game.
This is because Middlesex, currently in 3rd, plays 1-5 Amoskeag. To stay in 2nd, the Wolfhounds need one bonus points.
MARFU Media v Washington Norfolk Blues v Maryland Exiles PAC v Raleigh Schuylkill River v NOVA The weather could put the kibosh on several of the more northern games. All of these games are crucial for somebody. Raleigh can jump back in the race if they upset PAC. NOVA, having lost to Raleigh last week, have to bounce back, but Schuylkill River is doing some bouncing, too.
This is really, really, Norfolk’s last chance. They need to be the undefeated Maryland Exiles to think playoffs. West Boulder v Denver Barbarians The Barbarians signaled that they are serious by beating Glendale. Now they have to signal they are consistent.
