Old Blue beat the Village Lions 52-21 Saturday to move to 4-0 in the Empire GU DI club league.
Hooker Brandon Croley had a big game for Old Blue, scoring two tries, and Derek Lipscomb came on as a sub at flanker and scored twice late.
"Our defense was good, we were happy with that," said Old Blue president Quentin Unsworth. "The Lions are a much improved team and it's hard to believe they have a record of 1-3 considering how they're playing."
Keeping pace with Old Blue was Buffalo, which defeated Long Island 27-17. However, the Buffalonians did not score four tries, and so are behind Old Blue on bonus points. White Plains played Monmouth in a clash of 2-1 teams, and White Plains came out on top 31-5 to move to 3-1.
New York won the battle of winless teams 15-10 over Morris.
All eyes, then, are on the October 20 game between Old Blue and Buffalo in Buffalo.
"All we can do is keep trying to improve," said Old Blue's Unsworth.
