Midwest DI Latest
Clubs - Men's DI Clubs

Week two in the Midwest DI league saw the Chicago Lions and Cincinnati Wolfhounds win again, the Chicago Griffins rebound after a tough opener, and Metropolis pull off a big upset.

The Lions slammed the Milwaukee Barbarians 33-8 to move to 2-0, while the Wolfhounds shut out Indianapolis 36-0 to also go to 2-0.

The ground was wet in Indianapolis, but "we adjust well," said Head Coach Nick Lauterbach.

Up 15-0, the Wolfhounds made a few adjustments and put in three well-taken tries in the second half, all converted.

"Things for a little sloppy in the last 20, but we held on," said Lauterbach, who was happy to get the shutout. "A road victory is hard to come by so we're happy with the performance."

Columbus beat the Detroit Tradesmen 36-26, while the Griffins, who had lot to the Lions a week ago, bounced back with a big score over the Chicago Blaze.

The big result of the day was another indication that Metropolis is on the upswing.

“This team really came together last year and fed off each other’s positivity,” said Metropolis Head Coach Nate Osborn earlier this season. “I’ve never coached a closer group of guys that play the game with a lot of intensity, but love to joke around off the field.”

The results showed Saturday, as Metropolis beat last year's Midwest champs, Palmer, 29-27.
