While no team has clinched the Southern California DI club title, the four teams slated for the National Round of 32 in May. Belmont Shore, OMBAC, Los Angeles and Santa Monica have all clinched spots in the playoffs, and now just need to fight it out to see who will finish 1st. With their loss to Los Angeles this past weekend, Santa Monica slips to 7-5 and now cannot finish higher than third. LA, which has played one game more than everyone else in the top four, are virtually guaranteed to get third or fourth, depending on whether they are able to beat league leaders Belmont Shore in their final match in two weeks. OMBAC can still catch Belmont Shore, thanks in large part to a good haul of bonus points. OMBAC has Huntington Beach and Back Bay left, and if they get bonus-point wins in both of those, they put the pressure on Belmont Shore to win big in their matches.
Here are the current standings:

These matches are upcoming: April 23 SANTA BARBARA GRUNION at SANTA MONICA LAS VEGAS BLACKJACKS at BELMONT SHORE April 30 BACK BAY at OMBAC LAS VEGAS BLACKJACKS at HUNTINGTON BEACH RFC SANTA MONICA at SANTA BARBARA GRUNION LOS ANGELES RUGBY CLUB at BELMONT SHORE If games go to form, then Santa Monica would be expected to sweep the Santa Barbara games and garner bonus points in those games to get them 49 points in the standings. Los Angeles would not be favored over Belmont Shore, thus giving Santa Monica 3rd. Belmont Shore would be favored over Las Vegas and Los Angeles (although not prohibitively so) and would secure 1st with those wins. OMBAC will not be able to catch them. That would leave a SoCal seeding of: 1. Belmont Shore 2. OMBAC 3. Santa Monica 4. Los Angeles And that would set up the following Competitive Region #1 playoff matches: Los Angeles at Olympic Club Santa Monica at Provo Sacramento Lions at OMBAC EPA Bulldogs at Belmont Shore
