Blues Win in Comeback
Clubs - Men's DI Clubs

The Norfolk Blues came back from a five-point halftime deficit to defeat the Raleigh Vipers in Mid-Atlantic DI action Saturday.

Home team Raleigh started out strong and led 15-10 at halftime. But Norfolk Head Coach Chris Porter ran on the subs, including most of his tight five, and the changes paid off.

“We have a lot of depth,” said Porter. “And we were able to take advantage of some fresh legs.”

“We fell asleep in the first ten minutes of the second half and that’s what hurt us,” said Raleigh’s Jim Kellenberger.”

Down 15-10 the Blues ran in three tries in the early going of the second half and won 40-22.

“Our back row really led the team defensively,” said Porter. “But I was really pleased with [scrumhalf] John Grasso. He leads the attack and in the last few weeks he’s played his best rugby for us.”

Also winners today in MARFU were PAC, who beat Washington 58-5.
