Men DI College Top 25 Feb 21 2011
Rankings - Men DI College

There have been some big wins, and one big tie, since our last ranking. The tie was between Florida and Florida State Friday Feb. 18 in Tallahassee. The Seminoles finally stopped the Gators' seemingly infinite (at least 7-year) winning streak, but could not pull out the win. They face each other again April 9 to decide the South championship.

Perhaps the biggest win of the most recent week was Buffalo's 40-15 defeat of St. Joe's. Yes, St. Joe's is DII, but ranked very highly there and expected to compete for a national title. The carried extra weight given Buffalo's falter to Maryland at the tail end of the fall semester. Another big win was Northern Colorado's over CPL Colorado State. UNC has a very tradition-rich program and is methodically climbing higher. Also noteworthy was Virginia Tech's defeat of Navy.

The biggest jump, however, was made by Stanford. The Cardinal's overall record isn't wowing, but they're undefeated, having beaten everyone in the NorCal conference, and in the driver's seat to receive a Sweet 16 berth. SImilarly, Texas had to break into the list, as they've jumped to the front of the Texas Conference with a 4-1 record. The 'Horns travel to San Marcos Friday to face Texas State. Whoever wins should seal the Lone Star State's bid to nationals.

Dropping somewhat dramatically is Chico State. Their upcoming game against Sacramento State will determine who's to push Stanford the rest of the season. Some very good teams like Indiana, Miami of Ohio and Boston College have slid or dropped out. Just as the warm weather schools did in the fall, idle teams (especially those without playoff aspirations) will continue to plummet.
