Waisale Serevi’s inaugural Serevi Rugby Academy is off to an impressive start.
Following the heels of Serevi attracting legendary New Zealand 7s team coach Gordon Tietjens to participate in the camp, the camp has announced that several high-profile players have signed on to participate, including University of Utah’s Don Pati, Notre Dame’s Christopher Pesigan, Central Washington’s Tim Stanfill, and Arizona’s Peter Tiberio, as well as USA 7s players Miles Craigwell and Nu’u Punimata.
Pati, Pesigan, Stanfill and Tiberio were among the standouts at the recent USA 7s College Rugby Championship in Philadelphia.
Serevi is looking to attract a host of other promising sevens and XV’s players ages 18-24, and was at the CRC scouting talent.
“I want to help the game grow and help players get better,” he said then.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and slots are filling quickly with the unique Serevi/Tietjens coaching combination a big draw.
The August 14-21 Seattle-based Academy will culminate in an August 20th tournament run by Serevi Rugby. USA 7s team Coach Al Caravelli will be on hand to scout talent first hand.
