I could care less about the exclusion of A&M, by the way. And Ark. State, Life, Army Central Wash. and UBC all either have or have had their second sides playing in DI conferences. Not that crazy of an idea.

I'm not confident of that, and everything you say makes sense. But sometimes teams don't do things that make sense. Like Claremont joining the CPD. If Texas went to the CPD, they'd have their two biggest natural rivals, Oklahoma and Texas A&M to play against. I think alot will depend on how they perform in the CRC.

I'm not sure why you're so confident of that. UT did well this past year in D1 and in their past years they have been on and off. Their new coach seems to be improving their program and pushing them to go to national tournaments like the CRC. I still don't think that they will be as interested as you think. Let them build up more and enjoy their time in the new D1 conference. There's many reasons why they wouldn't want to join such league (money, travel time, etc). I think having them in the SW league will be beneficial to everyone in the league to move forward D1 rugby as a whole in Texas.

I've read the chart and realize that Texas applied to be in the SWRC and was accepted (because I also read the press release on the new conferences posted over on rugbyrugby.com). I also know that there will be openings in the Mid-South that USAR will be looking to fill and my guess is that Texas will be one of the teams approached to fill one of those spots. Unless they signed some sort of binding contract with the SWRC, I expect them to strongly consider jumping up, especially if they perform well at the CRC and gain some more confidence in their ability to compete at a high level. But thanks for pointing out the chart.

no offense to buffalo but I don't see them being competitive in the CPD. Best bets for teams to move up Would possibly be davenport or any of the other final 4 teams but Due to geography I dont see any of them making the jump.

My impression is that Ohio State does not want to play in the Mid-South and made it very clear that they would only play in the CPD if they could be in the East. So, if LSU leaves the Mid-South, it won't likely be Ohio State that replaces them. Then the Mid-South would be down to 6 teams. Again, does anybody know who else wants in (besides perhaps Buffalo and Syracuse, both likely wanting to play in the East) and who wants out (besides, perhaps, LSU)?
