Participation in the National All Star Championship was almost entirely player funded. Getting an invitation to compete for one’s Territorial Union, with the opportunity to be selected for the US National Team, was a distinction and a treasured opportunity. The Local, Territorial and National Unions had little or no discretionary money, so the players found ways to fund their own participation. Ed Hagerty

NASCs have been eliminated on the women's and AA sides as well - wrong decision IMHO. NASCs allow the entire country to move forward in our rugby practice - players not quite good enough to be Eagles continue to develop and bring what they learn back to their teams helping drive development at the club level as well. Add to this: NASCs and the local all star programs leading up to them are development pathways not just for players, but for coaches, referee s, managers, physios, and everyone else involved in the game. Where are the next generation of coaches/refs/admins coming from? What will be their pathway? We need the NASC back for ALL areas of rugby. Men, women, collegiate, and HS.

Perhaps the new Competitive Regions (CRs) could choose selects to play in a tournament? Regardless, I think everyone except those in Boulder agree that a form of the former NASC needs to return.
