UNT has admission topping 37,000 students, UH with 35,000 But with these rugby teams that dont have the financial backing of the schools they sweat and bleed to represent, I'm glad I wont be shelling out stacks of cash to drive to Lubbock. A&M though? I dunno...

This whole thing is a joke the SWRC is highly stacked in the favor of TX TXState and SHU. the only legitimate D1 school in the conference. They did not wnat Tech in there simply because they did not want to travel. They did not TAM in there becaue they did not want more competition. Look at the records, Houston finished 3rd in D3 last year! how in the world are they going to compete in D1. How can this new conference claim to have the cream of the crop in TX by adding a 3rd place D3 team. Now Tech and TAM2 are in D2 with school like Univirsity of Dallas, San Angelo and St.Edwards with populations student populations around 4000. The whole thing is a sham.

The Bottom line is that Tech got screwed in this deal...A&M not so much because they are already in the CPD and to assume the TRU was going to allow them to enter their 2nd side is like telling every team in DI that their bench players are better than everyone elses first XV. The aggies are an arrogant bunch, for a team that claims to be "classy" they have about as much sportsmanship as a T-ball team. The tech players just want to play good rugby, and yes the travel sucks, but thats part of the game. The TRU seriously needs to think about this decision, to include UH and not Tech is an insult, an absolute disgrace to the game and an example of how poorly run this union is.

Wait...UH has a team? last time i checked they were purely a social side that didnt concern itself with competitive play. I thought all they wanted to do was drink beer on the sidelines.

This is absolutely ridiculus. Tech won the TRU last year and went to nationals and undefeated in cup play. Tech has just as far to travel if not more than anyone else. Every club has a down year and all of their matches were close, they did not ever get blown out. But I know the TRU is and always has been never concerned with Tech and the success it has had on the field

sorry people but if you want to compete with the big dogs, compete with the big dogs!!!!! you don't get to have your cake and eat it too. The CPD will fall apart. is anybody tired of 100-0 scores???? and these teams will be left without a league. Texas rugby politics stink and they smell quite bad. ever smelled a stinking rotting fish?

Now this is the same team that thought they were too good for D1 and went to the CPD. They have the balls to try to enter their second side to compete with our teams. What an insult. Here is the truth: nobody likes the A&M coaches. They run the Texas Selects program with favoritism. The word eventually got around and nobody actually showed up last year and they had to cancel the program. LOL.

Yes I went to RIce and I'm damn proud of it. I feel sorry for the Tech guys. They were always a nice group of players but they are just so damn far. As for A&M, they have always been arrogant players. On the field, I have some bitter memories playing against them. I personally felt they disrespected the game and were not very nice to other teams. When they played Rice at Rice's home field a few years ago they booed us and refused to go out with the team afterwards. One of the guys actually said to a current player afterwards while shaking their hands that we "did not deserve to be in a field with them".

I'm gonna go ahead and say that i think this whole thing is hilarious. I played in the TRU back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Back in the day we used to kick everyones ass. Then we had a bunch of bad years in D1 and we dropped to DII. This year we were second place in westerns at DII and now have a very strong rugby program once again after re-structuring our recruiting efforts.

We were not idle in this matter. Our club and our coach made plenty of efforts to be apart of the SWRC from the very beginning so please don't talk about things you know nothing about. SWRC has the cream of the crop? Yes my team didn't win a cup match this year but ask any of the teams we played if they had comfortable wins, we came to play every week and just couldn't finish matches this year. We beat UNT in a friendly this year, 2 times last year State beat us twice this year and we beat them twice last year We lost 2 competitive games to Sam We lost 2 competitive games to UT We beat Rice last year We beat TCU last year We beat Baylor twice last year There is no reason why we shouldn't be allowed to stay in Texas. We want and offer competitive rugby.
