I actually was really impressed with Dolan being this was the first time I've seen him play. Did a good job at dealing with the back peddaling scrum and was in the midst of things at the tackle situation. Tracy looked dangerous when given space but if you can't get front foot ball....

This was an abysmal performance. If the Canadians had not dropped the ball numerous times they would have easily posted 50 points. The US scrum was terrible most of the night. The tighthead that came on at the end at least stabalized things a bit but he looked unfit. But I would rather have a TH that waddles around the field at this point but can scrummage. The only player that showed any real promise was the # 12. A couple nice breaks.

I've harped on this a few times and I'll continue to. I know we want to go with a youth movement overall but the front row is some place where that isn't always feasible. Everytime we've used props that are just out of college or green they're getting shoved around because there's a massive difference between college and D1/Super League and then another huge jump to the level of play needed by the Eagles. Everytime I watched last night the right side of the scrum was getting pushed up and it popped the hooker a couple of times. This puts pressure on the 8 and 9.

The wheels tend to come off the bus when you don't get your own first phase ball. We looked much more competitive when we played the Jaguars (arguably a better team than Canada A). Much prefer Asbun (hope he's OK) and Fenoglio in the front row. But that's the purpose of these matches - to find out who can perform on the international stage. So far, I would say that Wallace(probabl y), Asbun (definitely), Fenoglio, Dolan (definitel;y) and Craigwell have shown that they deserve a shot at the Eagles.
