Speaking as a Life fan that was at the CRC we loved cheering every second of the event and we just happy to be there over all to cheer for our guys and any other teams that were playing. Life U and all its players, students and fans love and respect the Game of Rugby. But as for what this guy below said, as a student I know that you have to have a good GPA and SATS to get in, the oldest player on the CPD both 15's and 7's side is 23 and after they use up there 5 years they can go up to SL and the school supports us be we also have awesome Alumni and give to the rugby teams... stop be jealous and spreading rumors about things you don't know about! [quote name="Big Boy"]Life has basically no admissions standards, recruits overage athletes, uses its SL team as a farm system, and pours money into their program.}

I was there rooting for Delaware and I can say the Life group was exceptional. They really did support the sport in a quality manner. I am not sure how the teams are chosen so I cannot comment except to say thst I would think if any teams get invitations it should be the top eight. I also think people should stop complaining about Life, they follow the rules and are good for the sport.

I think you're missing the message here. Rugby in the U.S. is g-r-o-w-i-n-g. Whether it be by 100 or 3,000, that is certainly worth noting. Life parents, players, faculty and alumni made the trip to Philly to rally behind their team and celebrate great rugby. I heard the Life section cheer during the high school matches, the FL games, the NC State games, breakaway tries from Maryland and Davenport, broken tackles by Penn State players, etc. They were on their feet cheering for "highlight reel" play, regardless of the jersey color. The head count in that section grew as the tournament progressed because people wanted to be a part of the excitement. THAT's what grows the sport. Whether you consider it an 'actual university' or not, it should be crystal clear -- Life U loves rugby.

Life has basically no admissions standards, recruits overage athletes, uses its SL team as a farm system, and pours money into their program. Somehow they still finished fourth behind the actual universities.

NO t-shirts were handed out for free on either Saturday or Sunday...CRC rules...Had to be purchased in advance with ticket sales or once registered at the team hotel...so get your story straight and stop spreading roumors, LIFE University the smallest school with the largest crowd...come on you big boy NCAA schools get with the program...

Another thing on the numbers. Each team must sell 300 2-day tickets. 300 x 16= 4,800. 4,800 for 2 days = 9,600. I dont know how many tickets the HS teams had to sell. Let's say 60. That's another 2,880 total. Altogether that is 12,480 tickets bought by the teams themselves. Leaving 5,669 tickets bought outside the teams' efforts. I dont know if RM's numbers in the article are tickets bought or the number of people actually through the gate. They scanned each ticket, so they definitely have that number. So let's assume it is actual attendance. I have no conclusion from all of this, but I definitely look forward to when this event can stand on its own without the team sales. As I'm sure everyone involved in USA Sevens is too.

Hard to determine if it was a gain of 1,000 when last year's number isnt listed. Last year was 17,894. So while the digit in the thousand spot did change from 17 to 18, the actual increase was only 255 people. An increase is an increase though, and it was an awesome event!
