Firstly, not sure why my last 2 emails came out as "Englishrugbyfan ". I appreciate that undermines my credibility! Must have been lurking on the laptop. What I wanted to start was a dialog on the Top 10 action items to position USA Rugby for the future. I gave up at #6 - could someone add the next 4. Re my item #4, there have been posts on the quality of NBC commentary, the fact they interviewed Tiberio in the players tunnel and do not screen more. My point is that if that's what NBC thinks is necessary, let's accept that and ask them to cover more RU 7's and 15's events. Whatever it takes, publicity in all its forms is good and maybe we can educate them on what might work better. I don't care for Rugby League! What else should be in the Action plan. Go USA rugby!!

ooook. One question. What are you referring to in your point, numbered #4? It is unthinkable that anyone is discouraging or preventing NBC from covering more events. Unless you are referring to "league" which is not rugby but a different sport entirely. If you are talking about league, take it somewhere else. There is barely enough room for one foreign tackle sport let alone 2. If you are not referring to league, then what are you talking about?

4.	NBC and other networks need to be encouraged, not discouraged, to cover more events not less. We need to stop being rugby snobs and allow NBC and other networks into our sport anyhow they want. 5.	Eye should be on the big picture. There is not time for Cal’s parochialism / isolationism. Sure, if they want to be winners for the rest of time, let’s allow them to do that in their own pool. The rest of us should move forward on a different path – not sulking off the field without thanking their fans (well done LIFE, Arizona and Dartmouth), not making rude gestures to fans, no smug comments from their manager, no ridiculous end zone celebrations and no negative tactics in how the team takes the field. 6.	Rugby should be played on turf, not Astro.

1.	The Head of USA Rugby needs to be a person of vision, persuasiveness and communication – Nigel Melville may be better focussing both eyes on Twickenham, not just one. 2.	USA Rugby needs cash to fund national teams, travel commitments, local club development and the College competitions. This entails reaching out to corporates and other institutions, explaining and selling the value proposition and if necessary having college teams sponsored. 3.	USA Rugby needs to tread on the American football space and explain the relative safety, sportsmanship and athleticism required. Every time a feature comes out about football safety (Brady, Warner etc), there should be a speaker from rugby suggesting rugby as an alternative.

IRB should consider stopping the clock after each try or somehow limit the time a team takes for the conversion. When the ball is not in play the clock should stop. I think it would make the game more attractive.

Realizing Cal was within the rules of a 7's match, there really should be a more restrictive rule on milking the game clock for conversion attempts....their kicker used about 30% of the first half milking the clock.... play the damn game...no one came to watch the kicker bounce the ball off the turf
