TheTruth needs to pull his finger out. So called "most effective forward pack" in D2 couldn't win the forward battle in forward conditions...oh and you got beat by a team who had two players yellow carded. Enjoy

Take a look at the USA Rugby site- "Women's Rugby is currently classified as an NCAA emerging sport in Divisions I, II and III. Official classification as an emerging sport means that the NCAA recognizes women's rugby as a full varsity intercollegiate program and the institution may use the program costs and athlete participation to count towards their compliance with gender equity requirements. Currently, the NCAA houses four varsity women's teams. Of these teams one is DI, one DII and two are DIII." So, Title 9 helps push Women's Rugby up in front of Men's towards full NCAA recognition. Until the NCAA sanctions Mens Rugby under their rules there will always be a chance of inconsistant and unfair application of the USA Rugby rules... or maybe USARugby should apply some of the NCAA rules so a team like Lindenwood is properly placed in D1 like they wanted.

Like I said, Salisbury is DIII because of size... there are less than 8k students. I was thinking more in Towson's case (more than 15k kids). The NCAA doesn't say all poor schools play here, and rich one's play here, just doesn't happen. No one is going to sit and parse that whole thing out. It will be about size of student body, no more no less. There are disparities within divisions and conferences and always will be.

Contrare.... That is exactly how the NCAA is set up. I think that would be a relatively successful model to follow. As far as " getting what you can get, I agree, but realize that there is going to be a Ceiling to what you might be able to get, and those schools operating on similar levels should be competitive with each other. I'll use the example again, SU competes at NCAA DIII, is it realistic to think they are going to scholarship rugby while they don't do so for any other sport? To say that the club needs to go out there and work harder at That Is ridiculous.

Women around the world start playing rugby around the same age. Between 16-18 on avg. So the field is more level in that sense for them. We have boys picking up the ball for the first time in college vs 9 and 10. Bigger gap to close. Honestly what drew me to rugby was that it was a world game and the inclusion. We don't need to make rugby the new football. (nothing wrong with it, I was recruited to play in college, but took the academic money instead.) Hopefully the kid would see the sport for what it is, and does what 99% of everyone else around the world do, play for the school where he/she decides to get his education and take both as far as he can. If they watched that match, and thought "this isn't for me" well then it probably isn't for them lol.

I'm saying, in the end, it is what it is. They are there...whatever reason. Just like you chose where you went, I chose where I did. Like most folks, they take the opportunity they are granted. Just like the 30 or so American kids on the team. Interestingly enough I think all except maybe 2 of Lindenwood's tries were American kids.. Citizenship has nothing to do with All-American awards lol..in any sport

It's not ani foreigner at all. Foreign players have every right to play rugby in America and they do improve the overall level of play here. The question Or beef is ....what is it REALLY doing for American rugby?? My guess is that a 15 year old kid deciding right now if he wants to continue playing competitive rugby who was born and raised in the states and he watched the collegiate finals on TV I don't think he would be encouraged in his chances of competing at a high level with the lack of American born standout players represented this year. Here's some food for thought...the USA women's program has been in existence for a shorter period of time here in America compared to the men yet they have found a way to motivate, train, develop and COMPETE at a high level internationally with majority American born women...what are they doing right??

Sounds like the flying of the flags was a bit much but what's the difference between that and naming your side Samoa United? I'm not advocating for the inclusion of foreign players all I'm saying is that their are plenty of competitive club sides who can take on varsity sides. It's tough but it certainly is possible. The fact is rugby in the USA is headed in a more professional direction.
