Gees...........Full Varisty team that was very top end D-2 program, steps down? "Say it ain't so" #1. How can they step down? They web page says they beat STANFORD? Like..........what the heck. Gees with a full varsity team, and not winning and not winning "Easy" in this D-3 league, in a way egg on the face to the entire team. Hard to hold your head up high here. So they stepped down since they open to say...."we are the worst D-2 team in the nation" If so, then cool, but they were a serious and still are a serious team with great athletes and coaches and a full varisty program that beat STANFORD. Why cater to 1 team and cheat out and "knock out" teams that in away "SHOULD" be in some type of 32 team first or 2nd round. Not sure the teams they beat to get to this championship game, but in a way, they all got hosed and so did any team from Cal, that did not get a chance to represent their area. Who ever let them in....must have got some "tip money" to slide them in? step UP Cal M.

USAR changed the dates for post season play this year. Cal Maritime graduation day is April 29th and all their Juniors and Freshmen leave on a two month sea cruise the same day. They can not sustain a team past April 29th. As such and as a school school of 800 they applied to play in the NSCRO and were accepted. Looking at the competitive scores from the NSCRO playoffs I would say they did not play down at all. Im sure if USAR gets their act together the would happily go back. Most the teams that dropped down from CPD except for Cal realy didnt belong their in the first place.

Weren't these guys a highly competitive D2 team just a couple years ago? The went to D2 nationals a few times performing well, and always played tough against D1 teams in Nor Cal. This is one of the reasons college rugby goes backwards in the USA. Do well, but not great and move down a division is the order of the day. Even Cal tried this year to move down a division. The D1-AA final four has 3 teams from the CPD that dropped down. Kind of pathetic in my opinion. Play up not down fellas!
