Al has poored his heart and soul into the seven's program at considerable self sacrifice to his family and business. What ever the reasons we should raise our glasses to Al and his family. Going forward, and based on the exciting future now is the time to really focus on the right selection of a coach. Go find who you want and want you want instead of just filing in the gap. Get the best!

Nola - the teams recent record has sucked. The US has been a core team for I believe 3 years now? They have not moved in the right direction. The US is in a dogfight for one of two places for the Olympics. Carvelli has done much for US Rugby but the program has virtually stagnated; particularly if you look back to the Eagles performance since the USA 7's 2011 edition. It's a brave new world and the USA 7's coach is expected to bring results. Those results have not come. Is it a bit harsh? Would it have been fair to give Carvelli the opportuity to work with the team for a season at the OTC. Perhaps but the window of opportunity to qualify for the Olympics is rapidly closing. Three years of downward results suggests that giving Carvelli more time as a way to reward the work he has done to date could risk the US qualifying for the Olympics. Best to head in a new direction and hope that as the game grows Al will find an appropriate niche to serve.

So what's the deal really? Did Caravelli step down or was he forced out? The man single-handedly brings USA 7s into the international conversation, presides over the creation of the first-ever professional rugby program in the U.S., begins the work of grooming these guy for the Olympics, then quits? Personal reasons are personal reasons. I can imagine all kinds of them, and they're none of my business or anyone else's. Just seems a little abrupt, especially considering the team's recent record, as discussed in these pages a few days ago.

NW Fan, you obviously do not know about the disgrace Serevi has shown his family and the people of Fiji. He is the last thing that the USA rugby team needs. This article sites a bit of it : http://www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=150967

I think you probably need to get some facts on Serevi right. I believe he led Fiji to a series championship as a coach and player. Definitely better resume than the names listed above.
