Glendale hands down was the better team ALL SEASON long... CNS caught them half asleep. Anyone who has followed the team knows they, like many of women's teams, have gone through some serious reorganization. Women teams, more so than men's, have regular influx and sharing of players... it is not uncommon. The intended purpose of the WPL has been to develop the larger player pool... better games leads to better players, and hopefully better Eagles. Glendale benefited this year from a crop of super star players (current and former eagles) who are drawn to the team because of the facilities, the coaching, and the support! Take a trip to their training facility, get the dime tour, and YOU will want to switch teams as well. In addition, Glendale has the benefit of having a competitive Div 2 team... not a rag-tag B side. Again, competition breeds better players... which grows the bench.

53-5? Come on. Thats more than just a player or two. Potter can make the gain line but she has to work as part of a team - many others must support attack and defend to get tries on the board and they did. Lauren Daley is IMHO the best other 8 in the country but her team did not have the support skills to attack off her when she made the line. I don't think one or two players should change a team especially not a premier level team. all four top d1 teams should get to challenge but only one and two should be at neutral locations. If three and four want to challenge it should be played at 5 and 6s home. At least the top 2-3 d1 teams are currently stronger than the bottom 2-3 wpl teams and everyone knows it it does not matter how you slice it san diego was in the top four and ORSU was in the bottom 4. But yes at least WPL has a process as opposed to RSL. Glendale men got ripped off there times 3.

I think the WPL should expand to 12 teams in 3 (or 4) geographic regions (similar to the current D1). And maybe just call that D1 , while the rest of D1 becomes D2, and D2 becomes D3. That way the structure names would be more consistent for sponsors and new/potential fans to understand. The whole "Premier League" thing confuses people.

I agree the league needs restructuring, but you can't compare this year's teams to last years teams. Teams can change a lot in just a year, as we've seen with teams like New York, Glendale, and even the Surfers (picking up Bydwell was huge for them). To correct your strange wording, ORSU finished in the 5th/6th-place bracket of D1 this year, not "the bottom 4 of D1". And by saying the Surfers finished "in the top 4," you mean 4th, right? C'mon - say it like it is. You're insinuating that last year, some of the top D1 teams would have beaten some of the lower-ranked WPL teams. From what I saw at nationals the past 2 years, I disagree. However, this year was different, and it is exciting to see talent getting more spread out and the level of rugby rising across the board.

FWIW, at least the WPL has a challenge match, unlike the corrupt RSL. The Glendale men deserve to play at the highest level too.

Hannah Stolba did a year at Berkley before moving to Glendale. She has turned into a scoring machine so it must have been a good move for her. Maybe they all just like to snowboard?

Katie Janus used to play for the Amazons. Hannah Stolba and Jill Potter both played for the Valkyries. Lauren Daly used to play for Glendale. That point is not really important however because many players have transfered clubs in the past. Jamie Burke and Mari Wallace both played for Berkeley and for Beantown. No coincidence. Just women's rugby in the US. Video is on scrumhalfconnec tions ustream I believe.

Nice work by the Raptors. Looks like WSL and RSL might both have issues with how they determine membership if a challenge cup match is that lopsided, while the second tier WSL matches were all really close. Is there video anywhere? Are Fugate and Daines still running the Minnesota team?
