Name me one team where the players don't get paid and don't even practice with one another on a regular basis, and where the team players are different every time they compete? We need to have a core team--players who get paid so they are committed and have them practice together on a regular basis to build team cohesiveness. Hopefully, the new residency program will accomplish this.

name me one other sports team where a coach has been given so may years and the outcomes are pretty much equal each year - far below .500 ball - and they kept their job? will the USOC exert pressure on USArugby to bring in a different coach?

Great players do not always make great coaches as England found out to their considerable embarrasment with Martin Johnson. 7's is all about successully creating and exploiting times, angles and spaces though specific 7's fitness, and the mastery of basic skills under pressure by all players. Surely there is a coach in the USA who can spot and draw out these qualities in players and show them how to play as a team as the current coach cannot!!

so a week later and the same result...losses. i posted this after last week's poor performance. it's apropos again... just using the national 7's team data on usarugby (it's not complete)...the US 7's team has a record of 49-86 (and maybe one tie?) since 2008. again, not all info is provided on every tourney. so how long has the US had the same coach? i understand it takes time to develop a game plan, players, etc but 3-4 years of status quo and losing record? or is just that we are staying the same an everyone else including Russia, Japan, Kenya, etc are getting better? to many questions so we can only look at a hard number: wins vs losses and its not good

You can't place this all on Al--the guys have to perform too. I'm sure he's teaching them the basic skills of tackling and giving quick enough support to one another. I know it's hard for the guys to gel when you have different guys coming together every tournament and only playing together a couple weeks beforehand. I'm sure this will change once full-time status is truly implemented. Let's wait and see what happens then. Having consistent players who know one another so well they can read what the other is going to do and being comfortable with one another will make a world of difference. You see how it works for our opponents.

Abort the mission....bring them all home. Start over! We are terrible. Who pays for this and these horrible results vs mini countires playing rugby? Portugal - really? What a world power....maybe if Bagladesh started playing rugby we might have a chance!
