I think this is a WASTE OF MONEY! Why use this money for 7's players when we can use it for 15's players so we can show out for the RUGBY WORLD CUP? Rugby 15's > Rugby 7's

I wonder if Johnson Bademosi (corner for Stanford) is on anyone's radar? He was a lights out player for Gonzaga, and (I believe) played Usa U17 and U19... I feel someone like him would be great for a residency prog like this

This has always been funny to me. We want to be viewed as a legitimate sport, but have this type of mentality. Do you think mens soccer talks about the "Waste" of spots on their women's residency programs? What about track and field? Instead of celebrating a huge milestone for RUGBY in the US, this clown is talking about wasting 8 spots When a woman or a man watches a commercial, buys a ticket, buys a jersey, the money is still green. Players become fans and consumers and increase the size of the market. Also I know that my mother signed most of my permission slips growing. And my wife, also a rugby player, will probably be signed our future kid's as well. you want more kids to play right? The profile of the sport needs to be higher, and there needs to be more ACCESS to it across the board for EVERYONE able to play, simple...

etc. How do you even get TV reception beneath that rock you live under? To quote Lloyd Christmas - "That John Denver's full of [censored, don't use this word], man!" But seriously - given that the USOC is providing the bulk of the funding for this program, the spots really should be equal. Maybe USA Rugby pulled some strings to help the fellas out a bit, since our women's 7s program is already much more highly ranked, competitive, and successful on an international level?

I hope none of the dues I pay to USA rugby are going to support the 23 sevens contracts! I would rather the money was spent having a professional 15's side in a professional competition in Europe made up of Americans.

News flash, baseball got bounced from the Olympics because softball (the women's sport balancing it) was considered too niche in the global context. You might not like women's sports, you don't need to but men's rugby has no future in the Olympics or as varsity college sports without women's rugby. And when you're done being a bigot, maybe you will find a replay of the Army v PSU 7s final at CRC 7s last year-it was more fun to watch then 95% of the men's rugby played that weekend.

Why would anyone suggest that we select guys that are already pros overseas? They are already apart of a high performance model and getting payed. Selection should be based on who in the senior pool is 25 and under but also look at those in the All American and u-20 pools as well. Nobody says we can't add or cut guys over the next 4 years. They can sign 1 year contracts and get revaulated ever Jan. 1st.
