Brian Guillen played for the Woodlands Exiles this past season. One of the reason for our success was having Brian on board. Brian rugby skills are very advanced and he reads the field very well which allows him to punish teams if they over commit. Congrats to Texas A&M. David Pope

The rest of the qualifying tournaments have been for the most part, based on NCAA conferences. Baylor, Iowa State, University of Kansas, and University of Missouri didn't show up. Baylor would have been pummelled if you looked at their performance in the A&M tournament. They knew this and didn't bother, its not a cheap weekend. Can't speak of any other teams but their reasoning is probably similar. Heart of America wasn't a Natl. qualifier IIRC. A&M 7s definitely wasn't. They were "warm up" tournaments for this big one. Hosting a Natl. Championship is no small endeavor (24 teams, coverage, sponsorship, etc) and absolutely everyone involved at the university has to be on board. At A&M, Rec dept. and Athletics dept. facilities have been proposed to be used at this tourney. It's not a cheap endeavor either and the athletics dept. facilities require modification for rugby use. It will not be an easy task and good on A&M rugby for taking it on.

6 team tournament. Teams jumping from one tourney to another. Negotiating with a rec sports Dept for a championship. Is it just me or is this entire college 7s thing turning into a bad joke.
