Alex, Again Kudos to what Gary said. You and Mr Hagerty have shown tremendous allegiance and support to the five services in their rugby endeavors especially since everything has gone to [censored, don't use this word]. Our military rugby remains strong however an inordinate amount of brethren have unfortunately passed in the last 10 yrs. It goes with the job and is something we live with every day. Myself, I have down 3 yrs out of the last 5 to Iraq and Afghanistan. As you may know, I publish many of your articles through my email chain of over 3000 current and former military ruggers whom so many times thank me for the info but really I am just a middle man from you and other sources of info such as USA and IRB rugby and various other web sites...but you all are the best! I do have a small favor...would you mind sending me the four awesome pics of Kevin Shea that I can forward with your article. Dom

Alex, Tremendous thanks for covering this story. Two small corrections for the article: It was Kevin's 38th birthday when he was KIA, and the AF-Navy rugby match-up goes back at least as far as 1973 (Navy 12-10 AF), and perhaps before (as did AF-Army). Those years which lacked a match were likely due to funding or travel constraints, but otherwise has been a regular fixture with respective football match-ups. Regretfully, the annual AF-Army rugby match has not been played in recent years, partially due to schedule changes driven by shifts in the competitive collegiate season. The AFA rugby team records an international match versus an unnamed opponent in 1962, and their club was officially chartered in 1968. Plan now to attend the 2012 Kevin Shea Cup match, hosted by Air Force, and likely played at Infinity Park. www.usafaclasses.org/1989/shea.html www.fallenheroesmemorial.com/oif/profiles/sheakevinm.html -Gary
