Any one know if Army is competing in any of the qualifiers? They don't seem to fit in any of the remaining qualifiers (except maybe Delaware as I can't find any info about it. ) If I remember the rules correctly the at-large bids are granted based on qualifier performance. It would be a shame if they chose not to compete, they played some solid fundamantal 7's at the CRC, it would be nice to see how they would do against these teams.

Under your hypothetical, why wouldn't St. Mary's and Utah get 2 of the 10 at-large bids to the 24 team championship field? Most likely because you don't know what you're talking about and haven't bothered to read the other articles with info on this competition. Nice attempt at credibility through use of the word 'ad hoc' but you clearly demonstrate that you are, in fact, no one of impotance.

We are confronted with inequities in the ad-hoc process of qualifying for the 7s championship. Likely, the most competitive qualifier will be the mountain tournament, in Colo. If BYU chooses to enter, my bet is that they and Utah will have a barn-burner of a final. If BYU by some chance should win, then Utah would be left out of the championships, when everyone knows that they are a crackerjack 7s team, like MUCH better than many of the already-qualified teams. This would be sad and dilute the quality of the championship Similarly, though somewhat less dramatically, St. Mary's would be locked out by Cal, though they would undoubtedly beat at least a few of the already-qualified. Maybe, if Utah loses in Colo, they could go to the (Southern?)Cal tourney the following week and win that one to get into the championships. Hmm.

C'mon Rugbymag.... This is an actual 7s National Championship, yet you don't refer to it as such in your headline? Just because your invite event (don't try to tell me you are not the media wing of USA 7s) now has competition, you cant just not refer to it as THE National Championship. Cudos to USAR for putting out an actual championship! Life is NEVER going to be invited to the USA 7s event... Love to see some parity.
