that is a good point...in your country to play a top rated game it cost money. rugby in the USA is not a top 25 sport...paying big dues wont make it so...the national office has been IMO - borderline corrupt...salaries and expenses...the national office will not post the online the accounting books...

"Seemed to indicate" means I can't recall the exact figure, but roughly remember hearing it in that range. It was over $5 and less than $10. And it's actually a really nice benefit. For people without insurance, I imagine this huge. For people *with* health insurance like myself, it actually pays the deductible if the injury is over $1,000... i.e. I pay nothing as long as it's more than an x-ray or some cheap nonsense. For $10, I'll take that every time (I seem to have an injury every couple years that forces me to pay a $1,500 deductible - now I'll pay $10? Awesome).

Anon, I asked because I did not know. 8/person like I JUST said would be fine. Still think it is a pretty worthless benefit being forced upon us. I would like to know what "seemed to indicate" means. I think transparency, and thus knowing the exact cost, would be a good thing, or maybe i just cant grasp things.

Get past it. Here in Aus we pay over $250 AUD (which is more than the US equivalent) just for registration and another $90 for insurance. We don't get any special deals or toys, just shorts and socks. You already have very low fees, a slight increase isn't going to change that.

I am a level three coach USARFU rated coach(not that gets you much of anything) If I remember correctly, I had to pay for the courses myself...100 bucks-ish for each course... and my team hosted first round of playoffs and had to pay 750 bucks-ish to have the honor... nice try... the money goes to the black hole known as the national office...with salaries and expenses... can we get that posted online somewhere..

Congress seemed to indicate that the insurance program was going to cost $8 and change per person. Would "no Pulitzer yet" really like his dues to be $43.37, or is he so cheap that he can't grasp the need for certain-figure increases ($5,$10, etc.)?

if the new insurance cost 8-10 dollars/person than okay, that is an at-cost benefit being provided. If it cost, let's say, 5/person then that means USAR is charging each member $10 for what costs $5 for a profit of $5. I would like to know where any extra money is going if that is the case. I would think everyone would want to know the same since the biggest complaint about current USAR management is that they spend the money on the national teams at the expense of making a significant investment in youth,HS, and college rugby. It has been pretty effectively outlined how this new benefit will not bring in new players who otherwise do not have insurance (there's a 2k deductible for christ's sake for those who dont have primary). Since that was their explanation for adding this benefit, something seems off about the whole thing. Please allay my su[censored, don't use this word]ions.

What would have been a good thing to research would be how much the new insurance actually cost USAR. If it is much lower than 10/person then that means USAR used the new "benefit" as a means to get more funds. If that is true, the 2nd question to ask/research, is what exactly will those new cipp dues being going towards? Onward intrepid journalists! Ask the tough questions please
