Continued 6 So to sum up and to be very clear, the incident was completely unacceptable from all sides, and the US players who were involved have been punished, and from the HSAA team’s side that is where this matter should be put to bed. It really does not need you to be adding your biased and inaccurate reporting of half-truths and downright untruths (if not lies)........I would like to suggest that in future it would be best to stay out of a discussion that you have no first-hand knowledge about

Continued 5 12. The fact is nothing could be further from the truth. 13. It is worth noting that (as you put it) “Word is” that on more than one occasion in the matches between Glenwood and DHS the police have had to be called out……….I don’t claim this to be a fact but have certainly heard it from several sources in the South African rugby playing fraternity while we were there For the record the HSAA team tour to South Africa was a huge success and the entire coaching staff and all the parents who were on tour were very proud of the team.

Continued 4 9. It is true that there was a section of the crowd that booed......and if there was bad sportsmanship that would be it right there........but there was a significant section of the crowd who cheered the HSAA team off the field. 10. After the game the players from both teams (including the player injured by the head-butt) shared a braai (barbeque) together 11. I dont know where you got your gem of information which you refer to as "word is that the coaches were inciting violence".......but I would suggest you, and the authors of this trash, consider the spectacular stupidity of that statement.........why would the coaching staff who you claim had incited violence punish the players involved in the violence they had incited???

Continued 3 6. I was standing less than 10 yards from the try and the tackle that you refer to as a spear tackle and I have to tell you I saw nothing wrong with it.......and as far as I could tell neither did the ref 7. Shortly after the try was scored 2 Glenwood players were wrestling the tackler on the ground.........so whether or not the tackle was a spear tackle is irrelevant because the Glenwood players were guilty of taking the law into their own hands and should have been sin binned (as our player was) for retaliating. 8. The wrestling match was what sparked the fight.......and just to be clear, since you seem to have missed the very obvious truth………. A FIGHT ON A RUGBY FIELD REQUIRES BOTH SIDES TO PARTICIPATE......which they both did......which would of course make both sides to be in the wrong.

Continued 3. Unacceptable as this was it was very definitely not a one-way street, in fact the player involved in the head-but had been sin binned for retaliating to a punch. 4. The Glenwood team had subbed in their 4 best players, who they had been resting on the bench (presumably in anticipation of an easy win which didn’t happen) and they still had been unable to gain the ascendency. 5. While the HSAAs were down to 14 players (because of the sin-binned player) Glenwood ran in a well-constructed try to put them in the lead for the first time in the game (10 minutes from the end)

Ugly Americans I am not sure of your source of information but your post is both spectacularly inaccurate and very offensive........and by the way the link to your photos does not connect to anything I was at the game and for the record 1. The HSAA played exceptionally well and were ahead the whole way through the game 2. This incident with the fight was completely unacceptable from bath teams and the head-butt outrageous.........the player involved was sent home 2 days later and 2 other USA players were suspended for a game for their part in it. to be continued

Not sure if this group of tourists showed the best of rugby in the USA. The Glenwood match was a fiasco largely blamed on poor sportsmanship and thuggery on the part of the USA. The match was called 10 minutes early when Glenwood scored a try. The try was scored after an offload where the offloading player was spear tackled off the ball. It was captured in a photo. See - http://images.4chan.org/sp/src/1311965557918.png The All-Americans came in fists flying and a sin binned player ran the length of the field to get involved and head butt a Glenwood player who required medical attention from the assault. Word is that coaches were inciting violence and players were seen flipping off the Glenwood fans, which were primarily 14-18 year old students and their parents seen in this picture - http://images.4chan.org/sp/src/1311965557918.png The All-Americans were boo-ed off the field. One spectator commented he never seen a team boo-ed at Greenwood in 40 years.
